The 360 was clearly planned to have a lifespan of approximately 5 years, and during that time DVD has worked just fine. It hasn't really needed a larger medium. There has been a few games that needed multiple discs, but nothing too bad. We are now starting to get to a point where DVD isn't going to be good enough, but before we fully reach that, the 360's successor will be out with a larger storage medium (my wild guess: HD-DVD would work fine as a proprietary format for a video game syste...
I used to be in charge of the video game department at the local TRU (don't work there anymore, though), and they often get overlooked. They often have just as good a selection, pretty good deals, and new releases that are sold-out other places. The only drawbacks are that you won't always find an associate who knows video games very well (it's not a big focus for them), and you may have to ask if a game is in stock because they can't always keep up with "setting" new releases.
Yes, you could buy 3 copies of Uncharted as long as they are not limiting quantities of the game. They don't usually, but with really big releases they sometimes do limit how many one person can buy (it is a disservice to their customers if they let one guy come in and buy all the copies to sell on Ebay). If so, explain what you're doing and they might make an exception if they think they can.
Toys R Us has this deal every year, and it excludes pre-sells. Besides that, because of the way their system works, you would only get the $5 down payment for free (I used to be in charge of the video game department at my local Toys R Us, so i know the system). You could try to buy a different game and exchange it at a later time, but it has to be within 45 days (the return policy), and you will want to ask if that's possible before you do try it, and also make sure that the game you exch...
You're right. It is their opinions, and they are entitled to them. The point of this blog is that their opinions regularly rate the top PS3 exclusives lower than everybody else, while they rate the top 360 exclusives at the same level as everybody else.
As far as "incontrovertible proof of any wrongdoing," the numbers are pretty damning. I wouldn't say it is "wrongdoing" though, only that Edge should not be seen as a reliable source for reviews of PS3 exclu...
Instead of hurling insults, add something intelligent to the discussion by looking for flaws in his methodology or data. The information here seems pretty solid to me, but maybe you could look at a larger data set to see what happens. Maybe you could do a similar analysis of a different website that does the opposite.
Whatever the case, you don't need to worry about this. This isn't saying that PS3 is better than 360 (or even that 360 ISN'T better than PS3), it's not saying th...
This may not be exactly "news," but it is an interesting fact that is worth noting.
Is that a common problem? I've never heard of it before.
You can bet if PS3's firmware 3.0 caused problems with PSN, they would have fixed it quickly too. Like Mc Fadge said, the issue there was with a specific game, hence the optional 3.01 update.
...and nobody wants to hear anyone else's.
A fan, according to Webster's New World College Dictionary, Third edition, is "a person enthusiastic about a specified sport, pastime, or performer."
A fanboy, according to me (because Webster doesn't define it), is a person who, instead of enjoying what he likes, tries to tell everyone else why they should NOT enjoy what THEY like.
I like that NowGamer is taking a stand against the skewed review process that is so prevalent. They're right, it's gotten to a point where people take any score lower than 8 to be a terrible game, when in fact, an 8 should represent a very good game. A 6.3 should be seen as an above average game. One that is fun to play, and is worth checking out. 9 and 10 should be reserved for the truly GREAT games.
Look at games that have scored in the 90's on Metacritic. A game that scor...
I think Sony is choosing to use their own advertising on this rather than make deals to be featured in retailers' ads, which might be what Microsoft is doing. I think it is normal for a vendor to purchase space in a retailer's ad (i know vendors pay for premium shelf space like endcaps).
I think Sony has been holding back their marketing until they were in a stronger position. Maybe they figured that most of the people willing to pay $400 or more for a console already know about the games they want, so why pay for advertising? Now the lower price is where they expect to break into a more "mass market" area, so they will market more to get those people's attention.
Retailers are trying to draw extra attention to the item that has been selling better for them in the past. They are underestimating the Slim, i think.
Isn't it also available to Silver members for a fee after a free trial period? It is pretty ridiculous to charge for it in any way. Silellak does have a point that it is an added value for people who already have Gold, but it is pretty stupid to charge Silver members for it.
If you are offended by the poster and its description of gamers, then you should think twice before you use the phrase "that's gay" because there are people who are offended by that phrase, too. If you are offended by this poster, then you have no right to say gay people shouldn't be offended by that phrase. It's meant as a "walk in their shoes" sort of thing.
Semantics. Indentured servitude is still not considered acceptable in modern society.
My point, though, was not anything against the Bible itself, but against the people who selectively use the Bible to justify things that are taught against elsewhere in that same Bible. As you said, some things are explained more elsewhere in the Bible. Judging gay people as "abominations" is an example of that because Jesus taught that it is only for God to judge.
While gay people have maybe not had it as hard as African-Americans (mostly because they can "hide" in society), they WERE killed in Nazi concentration camps and they HAVE been murdered in what amounts to "lynchings" in the U.S. They HAVE been discriminated against. If you are "enraged" by those comparisons, i would guess it's because you feel they minimize the plights of your group, but don't minimize the plights of homosexuals, either. That amounts to saying...
I doubt blu-ray, but it is possible. They could also resurrect HD-DVD as a proprietary video game system storage medium. They are going the DD/streaming route for movies, so a proprietary medium for the games would not hurt them much. Higher manufacturing costs for the specialized discs, but it maybe would balance out the licensing fees for blu-ray.
